Black and White
I am taking a short break from learning Spanish to come here, look at all the wonderful art and post a few photos to share.
I jumped into the Progress and Possibilities competition and found I was in way over my head even in the beginners end of the pool, but it was fun swimming with the big names in the world of polymer clay. I'm happy to have had the experience .
Here a are few photos of my entry...

- Wow, what a beautiful neckpiece, I love it!
- Thank you for uploading your P&P submission. Your piece pushes the boat on so many levels: the complexity of the overall concept, the hamonisation of many techniques, the originality of form. Did you have the whole project conceived first, or did you allow the individual components to emerge? What I find very intriguing is the detailing on the component that goes behind the neck and shows on the bottom picture. The cane work on the beads to the left of the piece also catches the eyes - it's stylised yet refined - and the hollowed out centres have a big impact overall. Is it a heavy piece? Is the focal bead hollow? When you created the piece, what did you want the viewer to feel?
- Maybe other members want to pitch in?
- Hi Jill, I'm totally intrigued by the "cord" that goes around the neck on this piece. Is it clay? Is it flexible? It's such a cool pattern--reminds me of asparagus spears.I'd love to see how you made it. I think this is a piece that really demands to be held and examined closely! I'm not sure photos do it justice. Personally, I have the sense that maybe what you have here is really 2 necklaces. I'd like to see how it would look without the focal bead (with the face). That's a great piece in itself, but it may be competing for attention with the peacock feathers above. That said, I think the necklace is spectacular, and I'd love to wear it with slim black pants and a flowing white gauze tunic. A real WOW piece!
