Polymer Cafe Article, December 2011 issue - An Introduction to the Principles of Design
I just got my December issue of Polymer Cafe. I wrote an article for it called "An Introduction to the Principles of Design". In addition to the article on the basic principles of design, there are excercises for exploring these principles. I am happy with how it turned out. It looks like they didn't edit anything out of the article. I would love feedback from people on it - Were the article and/or excercises helpful?

- Can't wait to get my PC and read your article!
- My copy arrived last weekend and I have read and re-read your article. I have even read parts of it outloud to my husband. The formerly glossy pages are getting a soft, well-worn, almost fabric-like feel to them now.
I take it everywhere with me... I have to spend a few hours in physical therapy each week now to learn how to walk right again after a knee injury, and at my last session my trainer chastised me for reading your article while doing my exercises. I just could not put it down. I told her I was measuring my reps by paragraphs, but I don't think she bought it.
I'm so interested in how you explain your designs and why they work so well. I have looked at your pieces for several years and wondered at them. I'm a big fan of your art! My plan is to play around this weekend with the exercises you asked us to try. I will share photos of my attempts, I promise.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thought-provoking article.

I have been working with polymer clay since 1990. My work is all about abstract design. I see patterns in everything. I call myself an "improv" artist. I just capture what I see. My raw materials are the scraps that others don't know what to do with.
