Description:
Entirely of polymer clay, this bowl, valet, or sculpture in rich shades of royal blues and dark jade was constructed from multiple brands of translucent formulas. They were chopped, portions were tinted with alcohol inks and blended together, then pressed into a sheet and draped over a curved form to cure. The randomly ragged translucent edges were more deeply tinted with blue and green alcohol inks, with additional alcohol sprayed to run the hues like watercolors. Black paint was applied to seep into and accentuate the crevassed texture. Silver mica powder was flicked onto the inner surface and sealed with multiple layers of liquid polymer. The outer surface was hand sanded and buffed to a rich, polished finish. Appearing to penetrate the bowl, and serving as both focal interest and base, the black pyramid was sanded and buffed to a high shine, resulting in a faux finish not unlike onyx.
