Description: Right now I'm working on a personal challenge to create items using old canes, scrap, etc. I decided to incorporate this challenge into the simple shapes exercise. On my sketch page is a cane I made about a year ago of a peacock feather eye. I want to use it in an interesting way for jewellery but maybe also a decorative object. When I am stumped for ideas I usually just start the pencil moving, sketching random ideas, which is what I did here in the upper left. I thought the top middle sketch looked interesting, so turned it upside down (top right) and thought it looked like an earring shape. If I added the feather part of the peacock eye it looks almost Art Deco or even Egyptian. The drawing immediately below abstracts the feather again, for perhaps a brooch idea. The two drawings circled in red were further sketches playing with proportions for the earring. I need to refine even further, but I like this direction.
